Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)
Persons who immigrate to Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program have the skills, education and work experience needed to make an immediate economic contribution to the province or territory that nominates them. They are ready to establish themselves successfully as permanent residents in Canada.
Participating provinces/territories sign agreements with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) that allow the provinces to directly select immigrants who meet the requirements they have established.
Most provinces play a more direct role in selecting immigrants who wish to settle in that province. If you wish to immigrate to one of Canada’s province under Provincial Nominee Program, you must first apply to the province where you wish to settle. Your application will be considered directly by the province based on their immigration requirements. As per now following provinces are having a provincial nominee program:
Before applying to immigrate to Canada under Provincial Nominee Program, Provincial Nominees Applicants must first complete the provincial nomination process that may vary as per individual province requirement.
After you have been nominated by a province, you have to file a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence. A CIC officer will assess your application based on Canadian immigration regulations.
Provincial nominees are not assessed on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Workers Program.
